5028 Wisconsin Avenue NW Suite 100 Washington DC 20016
A 32-Hour Basic Arabic Course
Every Tuesday and Thursday from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm
Start Date September 3rd, 2019 to October 22nd, 2019
In this 8-week course, students will learn the Arabic fundamentals. The basics include greetings, the alphabet, consonants, short and long vowels, words, prepositions, gender, definite and indefinite articles, the noun sentence, and a basic introduction to the verb sentence. Each class will end with a basic conversation.
This bedrock course adopts a student-centered communicative approach. It is an interactive method that focuses on written and spoken speech to be identified and interpreted by the student.
The materials used draw on a variety of Arabic language teaching material, media content, and audio-visual aids selected by the Language and Culture Institute.
The course consists of class work and homework. It is designed to be both educational and fun for the learner. Language is learned more readily when students are encouraged to learn interactively in a fun and relaxed atmosphere both through classwork and homework.
The instructors are native speakers of Arabic. Mr. Eli Missouri taught Arabic at the University of Pennsylvania and Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is also an OPI interviewer. Most recently, he has been working for the US Department of State as a simultaneous conference interpreter on contract.
